MERCER COUNTY SHERIFF JACK KEMLER WARNS OF JURY DUTY TELEPHONE SCAM

(Trenton, NJ) – Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler has issued a warning to residents regarding a jury duty related telephone scam.

Over the past week, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous complaints from residents who were contacted by a Sheriff’s Officer stating they owed money for missing jury duty over the summer months. Further, they are instructed to meet at the County Courthouse to pay $2000 in bail. The scam caller is said to speak in an aggressive tone.

These calls are scams. At no time will a Mercer County Sheriff’s Officer call a resident and ask for monies related to jury duty enforcement. The best advice is to exercise common sense. Residents are advised to hang up on such a call and report it to the Sheriff’s Office at 609-989-6111.
