UPDATE: Fatal Crash on I-195 in Hamilton

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP (MERCER): Hamilton Fire Department, EMS, and NJ State Police responded to I-195 Westbound in the area of Exit 3A for a serious motor vehicle crash with entrapment around 6:45 p.m. Thursday. At least 3 patients were transported to the trauma center with serious injuries. An unknown number of patients were freed from the vehicle.

UPDATE: A 22 year old Trenton resident ran off I-195, colliding with several trees, killing one of her passengers, and injuring the other.

NJ State Police spokesperson Sgt. Lawrence Peele says the crash occurred at 6:39 p.m. on I-195 Westbound in the area of Exit 3 in Hamilton Township. Preliminary information indicates that a green Mitsubishi Galant was traveling Westbound on I-195 when it ran off the roadway and overturned. All three occupants of the vehicle were transported to Capital Health Trauma Center in Trenton. One of the occupants, Yelitza Rivera, 16 years old, of Trenton, was pronounced dead at the hospital. As of Thursday, the driver was listed in critical condition while the other 16 year old passenger from Hamilton was stable. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Sanitation truck explodes under railroad bridge

HAMILTON: Hamilton Police and Fire Departments responded to the railroad bridge located at Nottingham Way and North Johnston Avenue around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday after multiple 911 callers reported an explosion.

First responders arrived on scene and located a Solterra sanitation truck with heavy damage all around the vehicle. Debris from the explosion damaged two safety fences, and unconfirmed reports of broken windows to a nearby building. A Mercury Grand Marquis also suffered front end damage when debris from the sanitation truck struck the vehicle.

Rail services were suspended for a short period of time until proper authorities were able to deem the bridge safe for travel.

An occupant of the Mercury was injured in the incident but refused medical attention. No other injuries were sustained.

This incident remains under investigation.

UPDATE: The explosion was caused after the truck was unable to clear the clearance of the bridge, causing the CNG tank to rupture. The driver of the truck normally operates a different diesel truck that is able to clear the bridge.

Mercer County Homicide task force investigating Double Homicide in Trenton WestWard

Trenton: Trenton Ems and Fire was dispatched shortly after 4:00am to Stuyvesant Ave and Hillcrest Ave for a report of a gunshot victim,Police located two victims inside of a vehicle . Capital Health Paramedics pronounced the two individuals deceased inside the vehicle.


The victims of this morning’s double homicide in Trenton have been identified as Richard Guarderas, 18, and Malcom L. Bowser, 19, both of Trenton.

No arrests and no additional updates at this time.

UPDATE: Hamilton Police searching for man wanted in multiple armed robberies

Dollar General, 2130 South Broad Street

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP: Hamilton Police responded to the Dollar General in the 2100 block of South Broad Street just after 5:00 this evening for an armed robbery. The suspect fled on foot towards Trenton.

Hamilton Police also responded to the 1700 block of Greenwood Avenue around 5:20 this evening for an armed robbery at the Delta Gas Station. The suspect fled towards Atlantic Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black hoodie, grey sweatpants, white shoes, and a blue face mask. It is believed to be the same suspect for both incidents. Anyone with any information should call the Hamilton Police Division at 609-581-4000.


On June 25 at approximately 5:06 pm, Hamilton Police were dispatched to the Dollar General located at 2130 South Broad Street on a report of an armed robbery. An employee told police that a black male came in the store, walked behind the register, pulled a gun out and pressed it against the employee’s hip. The suspect told the employee to “give it up” and took approximately $500 from the register. He was last seen walking through the parking lot towards Genesee Street. No injuries were reported.

A short time later at approximately 5:27 pm, Hamilton Police were dispatched to the Delta Gas Station located at 1704 Greenwood Avenue on a report of an armed robbery. An employee told police he had just finished pumping gas into a vehicle when the suspect walked up to him, pulled a semi-automatic handgun out of his waistband, racked the slide back, and pointed it at the employee. The employee backed up and the suspect followed him and reached into his pants removing approximately $853. He was last seen walking down Atlantic Avenue towards Walnut Avenue. No injuries were reported.

The suspect in both armed robberies was described as a black male, wearing a black ‘Temple Wrestling’ hoodie, grey sweatpants, white sneakers with black and red soles, and a blue medical face mask.

One injured after stabbing in Hamilton Township

HAMILTON: Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred in the 300 block of Massachusetts Avenue just after 11 pm Friday night. The suspect reportedly fled the scene after stabbing an 18 year old male with a glass bottle. Police and EMS located the victim in the 300 block of Atlantic Avenue. The victim was transported to the Trauma Center by Nottingham First Aid Squad.

Multiple people shot in South Trenton Saturday night

TRENTON NJ : Trenton Police responded to the unit block of Power street and Steamboat Street where 3 people were shot, which looked to be some type of party. The shooting occurred just before 11: 30 Pm Saturday night.

Trenton Emergency medical services and Capital Health Paramedics Transported the victims to Capital heath trauma center where a large crowd gathered causing a large police presence. Unclear where the 3 people were shot or their current condition. Trenton Police have not made any arrest in the shooting. The Mercer County shooting response team is investigating the shooting.
