MERCER COUNTY SHERIFF KEMLER TO COLLECT UNUSED-EXPIRED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS AND VAPE DEVICES ON SATURDAY OCTOBER 24

Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announces the opportunity to dispose of unneeded and expired prescription drugs during the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, October 24, 2020.

The goal is to help local residents to rid their medicine cabinets of unused and easily abused opioid painkillers, in addition to any other unneeded prescription medications.

Mercer County residents can easily drop off unused and expired prescription pills, by bringing them to the parking lot across from the Mercer County Administration Building at 640 South Broad Street in Trenton, between 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M.

The disposal event will also collect vape pens and other e-cigarette devices, however ONLY after all batteries have been removed prior by the individual. Syringes, sharp instruments, liquid medications, or solutions cannot be accepted. Participants in the drop-off are asked to follow social distancing rules.

“The fall season is a good time to gather up any unused or expired prescriptions from your medicine cabinet, especially dangerous opioid painkillers,” said Sheriff Kemler. “Addiction or accidental use can too easily begin right from your own medicine cabinet,” added Kemler.

National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible method for disposing of unneeded and expired prescription pills. The program is conducted by the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
